Frequently Asked
Questions, answered.
If you don't see what you're looking for, we'd rather answer it directly — reach out through our Contact page.
Getting Started
Is there a cost to book my first visit?
No. Booking and the initial conversation are free. You're only billed if you decide to move forward with treatment.
How long does the first visit take?
Usually 20–30 minutes, depending on your questions and health history.
Do I need insurance information?
No. Knew is a cash-pay program, so there's no insurance to provide or verify.
Am I guaranteed a prescription if I book a visit?
No. Scheduling a visit doesn't guarantee treatment. Whether to prescribe — and what — is a clinical decision made by your NP based on your individual evaluation.
What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens — use the link in your confirmation email to change your time any time before your visit.
Your Care
Is everything really done online?
Yes. Knew has no physical office — every visit and check-in happens by phone, video, or secure message. If your NP determines you need an in-person exam or emergency care, you'll be directed to the right place, since that's not something we can provide directly.
Who's actually reviewing my care?
A licensed nurse practitioner, working under a Collaborative Practice Agreement with a supervising physician. You have the right to be seen by, or have your case reviewed by, the physician upon request.
How does my dose increase over time?
Most patients start at a lower dose and increase gradually. Your NP decides when — or whether — to increase your dose based on how you're tolerating your current one, not on a fixed schedule. See our Getting Started Guide for more detail.
What if I have side effects?
Message your care team — most side effects are mild and improve as your body adjusts, and we can help. For anything that feels like an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room rather than waiting on a message reply.
How fast will my care team respond to messages?
Within 24 hours for routine, non-urgent messages sent through your patient portal.
Medication & Pharmacy
What pharmacy compounds my medication?
We'll always tell you exactly which licensed pharmacy is compounding your prescription — no guessing, no evasive answers. Ask your care team any time.
Can I choose B12 or B6?
Yes, both are available at no extra cost — just let your care team know your preference.
What if I miss a weekly dose?
If it's been less than 4 days since your scheduled day, take it as soon as you remember. If it's been more than 4 days, skip it and resume your regular schedule at the next dose. Never double up.
Pricing & Billing
Why does my price change if I increase my dose?
Compounded medication is priced by dose, not as a flat subscription, so your price reflects what you're actually taking. Pricing is grouped into tiers so it doesn't change with every small adjustment — only when you move into a new tier. See our full pricing.
Is there a contract?
No. Plans are billed monthly and can be paused or cancelled at any time by messaging your care team.
Can prices change?
We reserve the right to adjust pricing, but we'll always give at least 30 days' notice before any change affects your plan — and you're free to cancel with no penalty if you don't want to continue at the new price.
